Washing Up for Success: How Clean Hands Help Kids Stay in School

At Kamawornie Nursery School in Sierra Leone, learning extends far beyond reading and numbers—it's also about building lifelong healthy habits. Recently, the students received vibrant educational posters and a valuable lesson on proper handwashing techniques.

With the help of their dedicated teacher, as seen in this video, the children learned step-by-step how to wash their hands thoroughly. The colorful new posters—featuring simple visuals and easy-to-follow instructions—now hang proudly in the classroom, reinforcing what they learned and serving as daily reminders of how to stay healthy.

These handwashing lessons are more than just routine hygiene—they are an essential tool in keeping children healthy and in school. Preventing the spread of common diseases through handwashing means fewer missed school days and more opportunities for children to focus on learning.

By helping the youngest learners understand the power of cleanliness, we are investing in their future. When children are healthy, they can attend school consistently, participate fully, and build the foundation they need to grow into confident, educated leaders.
